Every so often in the heated debate about the future of the Wake County Schools, somebody brings up Charlotte. It is usually the folks trying to reverse a generation of progress in Wake County and return to a segregated system of wealthy, white suburban schools and inner-city schools with a high percentage of poor and African-American students.
