Program Alert: Sherlock on PBS 10/24
On Tonight: A Nifty New 'Sherlock,' Earliest Life - Roger Catlin | TV Eye:
'Sherlock' on 'Masterpiece Mystery!' (PBS, 9 p.m.) isn't the first time the famous character of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle has been jerked into the present. Indeed, the producers of 'House' say their series is little more than a medical update of Holmes as well.
But slyly written by Steven Moffat, who was behind the latest batch of 'Doctor Who,' and with strong casting, the modern-day 'Sherlock,' presented in three feature-length bites, is splendid entertainment.
