I was first through the new Krispy Kreme's drive-thru this morning on my way to work. They gave me a card for a dozen free donuts once a month for a year.

There were people who had camped out, in some awful weather, I hope they all got cards, too! Otherwise, criminy, what were y'all thinking?! :)~

Update: The Apex Herald has a blurb on some of the overnighters: many were high school students, and apparently the mayor was out there, too. Hope you guys all got something for the trouble!

Part of me wonders if a "Raw Foods Cooking Class" isn't just an excuse for a bellicose person to come in with a bunch of a raw food yelling, "EAT IT RAW, IDIOTS! IN ORDER TO EAT IT RAW YOU MUST NOT COOK IT! DUH!"

Now, to be fair, it may be a marketing angle to get literal-minded folks fired up so they look into it further. Or, just an acknowledgment that without calling it a cooking class you're looking at possibilities like: "Arrangement and selection of raw foods for the purpose of consumption."  Still, as a matter of principle, I just can't see myself spending money to take a raw foods cooking class.

Washington will become its fifth hub city starting Wednesday with routes to 10 cities. One of these new routes runs south to Charlotte with stops in Richmond, Va., and Durham. Megabus is giving away 10,000 free seats on Washington hub routes, and it advertises that each bus includes a $1 seat.

Eventually we're going to want to take the kids up to D.C. for sightseeing and the Smithsonian. The prices on the Megabus may make it worth investigating as an alternative to driving. Interesting that instead of paying for a bay at Durham station, the bus stops at the curb on the street behind the station. That must have gone over well.
