New format, same wait.

As demand for e-books soars, libraries struggle to stock their virtual shelves - The Washington Post:

Kindles, Nooks and iPads can do many amazing things, but they can’t bump you ahead in line at the Reston Regional Library. In fact, if you want to borrow a book, it may be quicker to put down your sleek new device and head into the stacks.
I've dealt with the wait list blues a bit myself: having to get on the list for the Game of Thrones books, for example, only to have the second volume available prior to the first. No point reading out of order so you don't check it out, wait longer for the first volume, then get back on the wait list for volume two -- me and 39 other folks. Bah. (Still, if I was in that much of a hurry, I'd just buy copy. The first book was OK, but certainly not "must-read" material.)
