A Mother's Love

Threats And Lies, And 'Who I'm Supposed To Be' : NPR:

Nathan Hoskins, via NPR.org

"Probably two years ago, when I first came out, I asked her about that," he says. "I said, 'Mom, remember this?' And she would laugh. I said, 'Mom, I just want to hear one time that what you did was wrong.' And she couldn't say it."

"So did she acknowledge that it happened?" Evans asks.

"Oh yes, oh yes. You know, I guess she really did think that she was doing the right thing then," Hoskins says.

Soon after that conversation, Hoskins and his mother stopped talking. He says he is no longer in contact with his family.
I strongly recommend listening to the whole story over at NPR.

You know, if he got a hold of that shotgun on the way back from that tree and shot his mother with it, I don't think he would've been guilty of a crime.

I was thinking while listening to the story that the mother no doubt knew her son was lying to appease her, so what she was really doing was threatening to kill him if he didn't keep up the lie. Since she knew, you have to conclude she didn't really think he was a monster, she was just embarrassed and didn't want him to bring shame on her. What a coward. What a sniveling, heartless, bullying coward that woman is.
