Interesting, but the criticism I was just reading of the Moneyball trailer actually looks more germane to this one. I'm on the fence.
So what are the best explicitly atheist/humanist movies anyways? I just read about The Human Condition yesterday, a Japanese epic I'd never heard of before. Is it as good as advertised? Certainly Inherit the Wind, one of my all-time favorites and one of the most influential movies of my youth. Would The Name of the Rose count? There's an argument at Atheist Nexus for Batman Begins, but I'm not so sure. I liked it better than the sequel, but the end of The Dark Knight struck me as anti-humanist and spoiled the whole thing for me. I'd consider Monty Python's Life of Brian and Dogma, if they were better movies, though both have their moments. I haven't seen Contact.
