I make an obeisant gesture to acknowledge the champ.

Transsexual Mikki Nicholson's in the Pink After Grabbing Scrabble Crown:

(Newser) – How many points for 'unforgettable'? Pink-wigged transsexual Mikki Nicholson woke up the stodgy image of Scabble yesterday when she grabbed Britain's top game award with the word 'obeisant' (look it up) finally putting her over the top. 'I'm thrilled to have won and I can't wait to celebrate,' said Nicholson, a long-time player who credited her win to her intuition and her skill with ... numbers. 'People think Scrabble is just about words, but it's the numbers that win the game so a sound mathematical brain is an advantage,' she told the BBC.

Fuquay is Team Coco. I think my wife may have gotten pix of this, need to check the camera.

Frazzled people tweet their DMs all the time. (Not that surprising.)

Bill Simmons: Chaos and confusion tripped up the Randy Moss scoop for ESPN - ESPN:

First tweet to accidental DM tweet
timeframe usually not very long.

I could give you a thousand guesses. Wouldn't matter. You'd never guess what I was doing when I accidentally tweeted 'moss Vikings' last Tuesday night, inadvertently breaking news that the Patriots and Vikings were discussing a Randy Moss trade. Actually, you can't call it 'news.' More like 'hearsay.' But when the trade went through 16 hours later, some believed it was all part of my master plan. Throw out a rumor 'accidentally,' and if it happened, I would look like a genius.
Edit: Quick readers will notice I had to fix the title of this post, as I originally had DMs and tweets backwards. A little confusing, but perhaps to the point.

Oktoberfest, suddenly more sinister.

Study: Alcohol 'most harmful drug,' followed by crack and heroin - CNN.com:

London, England (CNN) -- Alcohol ranks 'most harmful' among a list of 20 drugs -- beating out crack and heroin -- according to study results released by a British medical journal.

A panel of experts weighed the physical, psychological and social problems caused by the drugs and determined that alcohol was the most harmful overall, according to an article on the study released by The Lancet Sunday.
The answer here is not a return to Prohibition. Still, maybe this study points at a more sensible way to deal with our nation's marijuana, heroin and cocaine issues?

They had hoarders in the Bronze Age too.

BBC News - Bronze Age hoard found intact in Essex field:

Bronze Age hoarders also lived in squalor, surround by their junk.

Archaeologists have unearthed a collection of Bronze Age axe heads, spear tips and other 3,000-year-old metal objects buried in an Essex field.
