DIY El Caminos in East Hartford

Car Trends In East Hartford | Sad City Hartford:

What we've been missing out on is what appears to be a return on the "car pickup" hybrid, a style first introduced by the Chevrolet El Camino in 1959.
While this type of car seems to have faded from fashion decades ago, loyal reader Farm Boy occasionally treks out to our neighbor to the East and has photographic proof that East Hartford may be bringing the "car pickup" back into fashion as he spotted two on a single journey.
You can't stop an East Hartfordite from driving an El Camino just by not making and selling them anymore.

TARDIS for your telescope

An observatory that’s bigger on the inside | Bad Astronomy | Discover Magazine:

TARDIS 'scope cozy via Discover

Duncan Kitchin is an amateur astronomer in Oregon. Like many of us, he has a telescope that’s kind of a pain lugging outside (my old ‘scope was the same size and shape as a water heater, leading to much hilarity as it sat in the living room). Duncan got tired of dragging it out when it was clear, then hauling back inside when the observing was done.
What’s a guy to do?
Well, if you’re an astronomer and a Doctor Who fan, the solution is obvious: pour a concrete pad, install the permanent mount for the ‘scope, and then make yourself a protective shell around the whole thing… shaped like the TARDIS!

Downhill is a Little Dicey

Kevin Cyr’s Camper Bike:

I was first introduced to Kevin Cyr’s work through his contribution to 20×200, I’m a proud owner of his ice cream truck. But he’s taken his work to another level with this creation, a Camper Bike. He’s created a tiny mobile house, essentially, which has some of the most basic elements you’d need to survive. He’s also created a series of paintings around it as well, which are just as beautiful as ever.
I would love to know if he actually transformed the inside like the blueprint shows or if he only created the outside. There are no photos of the inside, so I’m not sure. Anyhow it’s a really great idea. I also love his Camper Kart, which is an even smaller version of this one using a shopping cart.
